As such, the 2019 Toyota Tacoma speaks to a wide range of drivers. For Toyota drivers, the truck serves as a nice complement to the family sedan or SUV parked on the other side of the driveway. And for truck lovers, this midsize pickup is a tried and true option that continues to prove itself among the competition.

What’s New for the Tacoma in 2019?

When a vehicle has been on the road for a quarter of a century, any growing pains are long gone. That leaves manufacturers to perfect year after year.

For 2019, the Tacoma adds a pair of USB ports inside the center console. This addition keeps up with consumers’ growing demands for more on-the-go electronic capabilities. Privacy glass becomes standard on the base model, and those with automatic transmissions are now equipped with a new JBL® audio system.

The Tacoma TRD Pro, the most elite of the six trim options, gets even more attractive with a new exhaust, sunroof, and color schemes.

What Else to Expect

Every new Tacoma includes a touch-screen display loaded with Toyota’s voice-commanded Entune™ infotainment system for all things traffic, weather, music, and apps. A wireless smartphone charging deck adds a sleek and convenient touch to the Tacoma’s tech.

Technology aside, what the Tacoma is really here for is performance. Up to 278 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque are available in the 3.5L V6 engine option. Drivers can choose from manual or automatic transmissions along with rear-wheel or 4-wheel drive.

The Tacoma can tow up to 6,800 lbs. with 1,440 pounds of payload when properly equipped. This kind of muscle pays a nice compliment to a bed that measures more than 60” long, 41” wide, and 19” deep.

The Tacoma also comes equipped with Toyota’s Safety Sense™ P package. This suite includes a pre-collision system with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Sway Warning System, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control — just to name a few.
