New 2017 Highlander Makes Appearance at New York Auto Show
Toyota has finally revealed pictures of the new 2017 Highlander to the public ahead of the vehicle’s debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show. With a newly upgraded exterior appearance and additions to the Highlander’s powertrain options, the SUV is rolling into the 2017 model year with an improved roster of features that is sure to appeal to buyers in the SUV segment. Plus, with a variety of trim levels, a versatile drivetrain, and the current popularity of the SUV and crossover market at the moment, the Toyota Highlander is in an advantageous spot for a mid-cycle refresh.
Exterior features like more prominent grilles, new graphics on the taillights, and two new color options for all trims add an extra edge to the Highlander’s appearance. The LE, LE Plus, and XLE feature silver paint, while the two more luxurious options — Limited and Limited Platinum — feature a chrome finish. In addition to the new Celestial Silver Metallic and Toasted Walnut Pearl colors on the 2017 model’s palette, the new SE trim also adds one more new color option, Salsa Red Pearl.
The SE trim level, new for the 2017 model year, will slide in between the XLE and Limited trims, featuring a dark finish on the grilles, a sport-tuned suspension, roof rails, and 19-inch alloy wheels, among other new and more athletic features. The interior comes standard with black leather upholstery with silver stitching.
These improvements are in addition to new tech features, like five USB ports and the Toyota Safety Sense P package, and the new and improved 3.5-liter V6, which Toyota reps say will produce significantly more horsepower than the previous model’s equivalent 270-HP engine. A new eight-speed transmission will also replace the old six-speed.
The new 2017 Highlander is due for launch sometime in the fall of 2016. Pricing has yet to be announced. In the meantime, check out the current Highlander models we have in stock!
